Working as an equity release specialist adviser is always so rewarding.
In these challenging times the focus of my advice is far more around helping people in distressing financial situations to provide them with peace of mind rather than releasing monies from their home to fund that trip of a lifetime!
I will be publishing a series of real-life case studies of some of the people I have advised over the last year, where a Lifetime Mortgage was the most suitable solution to meet their needs.
I had a lady contact me who was in the process of divorcing and was living in the former matrimonial home. She really wanted to stay in the property which had been her home for over thirty years and she brought her children up there so had a big emotional attachment to the property.
She unfortunately did not have the financial means to be able to buy her ex-partner out and retain the property.
The customer had already explored getting a mortgage by traditional means however, her part time job, level of potential income in retirement and her age did not make this a viable way forward.
Essential to the customer was that she did not want to put her home at risk either.
After exploring all the options to assist the customer it was agreed with the customer and her son that the most appropriate way forward was to release funds from the property to provide her ex-partner with his share of the property and clear the existing small mortgage held on the property.
The customer had a solution that helped her to stay in the home she loved, and it still be affordable to her to maintain her quality of living.
One very happy customer at a very stressful time.
MORTGAGES ON AND EQUITY RELEASED FROM YOUR HOME WILL BE SECURED AGAINST IT.
YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE.
