I recently posted about the help I received from Neil Barsby setting up my income protection insurance. If there is anyone out there in similar circumstances to me being self employed and debating income protection insurance I urge you to give the man a call and set it up. I broke my metartarsal in January and ended up out of work for 6 weeks. That's when I posted on here for advice and he was recommended to me. I debated not bothering to set up a policy but he chased me up and set it all up for me with ease. 6 weeks ago I suffered a dislocated ankle, broken fibula and two torn tendons and have found myself signed off till mid November.
The insurance company have accepted my original injury that made me take the policy out had no contributing factors towards the latest one and have accepted liability and are now paying me a percentage of my wages for the duration of me being off.
I couldn't really be bothered with the hassle of setting it up but it honestly was 99% done for me. I accept this more looks like a plug but it's also advice. I didn't think I'd be unlucky twice but I was entirely wrong and it is a massive help to have a bit of a safety net.
